"Healing Words"

Ephesians 4:29

In the book of Proverbs, we find the following statement: “Rash language cuts and maims, but there is healing in the words of the wise.”  (Prov. 12:18, The Message)   We are all too familiar with the truth of this passage for we have all had our share of both delivering and receiving “cutting and maiming” comments.   The Apostle Paul tells us in Eph. 4:29 that God desires His children to institute a huge change in the type of words we use:   stop using the “cutting words” and instead start using the “healing words.”   Oh sure, that sounds easy enough to do, but is it?   Not exactly.   The Bible does, however, show us the first step in developing the habit of giving “healing words” to those around us.
